Prenatal & Maternity Massage |
|

Prenatal massage is bodywork specifically designed for expecting women in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd trimester. A body cushion system and body pillow are used for optimal positioning on the massage table to allow for total relaxation. Belly massage is incorporated in the 105 minute session. It can be omitted to allow for more time to concentrate on other areas of the body. Belly massage can also be added to the 75 minute session if specifically requested, but it may take away time from other parts of the body. If you have any questions or concerns about receiving a prenatal / maternity massage, please view our frequently asked questions section.

Through the ages nurses, midwives, doulas, and birth assistants have helped mothers through labor and birth. These amazing women also retained the knowledge of how to naturally induce labor when the time came and when induction was needed. [read more]
Spa on the Hill's natural induction begins with a deeply soothing massage to help lower cortisol (stress hormone), which blocks the release of oxitocin (mothering hormone that helps natural induction) and serotonin (an important hormone in regulating mood, sleep, temperature and other body functions). Areas of the body, such as the lower back, uterine and pelvic ligaments, are worked to loosen restrictions that may cause difficulties for the baby to descend. Lastly, shiatsu and reflex points are stimulated to produce contractions and to encourage the baby to become engaged. When labor is eminent, these points are sure to help speed up the process. Breathing exercises are encouraged during the entire massage to help over come any discomfort, and it is the perfect way to practice for active labor. Results are not guaranteed as every woman's body and baby present with different circumstances.
Natural inductions are performed by licensed massage therapists who are certified in prenatal, labor, and postnatal bodywork.
